Here are four tips for improving your “Talk Shots.”

  1. When shooting against the LED Wall, always drop your shutter speed it 1/100. You can set you aperture between 2.8-4.0. Remember, the higher you go, you can see more in focus but your shot gets darker. It is a trade off.
  2. Double your shutter speed according to your focal length. If you’re at 200mm, shoot at at least 1/400, especially if you’re using a camera with a crop sensor.
  3. Capture from multiple locations in the room and know your pastors good side!
  4. The first 5 minutes of a talk are the most crucial! This is usually when your pastor is warming up the crowd, you’re more likely to get a great smile in the first 5.
  5. My go to settings are: With LED wall - ISO 1600, 1/100, f2.8-4.0 | With No LED wall, inside ISO 1600, 1/400, f2.8-4.0 | Outside shots vary based on cloud coverage.
